Bible study banned in dormintory
JS Online: Bible study policy raises ire: "Every Tuesday last school year, Lance Steiger took a Bible to the basement of his dormitory at UW-Eau Claire and led a small group of friends in a discussion about a particular chapter or verse.
Steiger, a resident assistant and a junior at the time, said he was never told he could not lead a Bible study in the dorm where he worked helping students adjust to college classes and campus life.
But in July, he got a letter from school administrators warning him that if he continued to hold Bible studies in his dorm this year, he would face disciplinary action.
The issue has spawned a flurry of heated exchanges between Steiger, school officials, civil liberties groups, and at least one U.S. representative who on Thursday called the university's position 'outrageous and un-American.'"
The state believes that becasue they are paying for this guy's room, they should control what he does in their, even when he is off work.

In history, what nation has gone without a faith of any kind? Lets see.. The egyptians? Nope. Persians? Nope. Greeks? Nope. Romans? Not until its collapse. All the barbarian tribes in history, like the Vikings or Mongols? Nope. The British Empire? Nope. America? We've had Christianity since before day 1.
Without a faith, people become angry, bitter, and lack hope. With a faith in a religion, esspesially christianty, the people of an empire are more unitied and stand stronger together, even if it is a different religion. In america, most charities were founded by our churches, and education was originally done by the churches.
Something is indeed wrong, when a critic trys to draw attention to himself by saying their is too much religion.

This site has a bunch of automated phone lines, and called us the other day, essentially saying everything that is on it's site, and ended the call with "God bless you". Well, this caught me off gaurd, and made us suspicious, so I did some reaserch on it, and found this entire thing to be a hoax.

Double Feature today
Greetings all. I've been busy and have forgotten my duty to aid in the attempt to push back the frontiers of ignorance. To try to attone, I will be presenting the next two truths.
13: If you commit a crime, you are guilty.
This is an easy one. It makes sense(or so I'd hope, otherwise PB and I will have to redouble our efforts >_<)
14: The way to improve schools is not more money. It's introduction of moral and spiritual values, as well as the "4 R's": reading, 'riting, 'rithmatic, and Rush.
More money is not the answer. Alabama's school system showed us that. These suggested principles really would work (although I do realize that Rush is not for everyone, sadly...), but, thanks to a number of things, mostly stemming from our modernist, reletivistic society, the basics of right and wrong, lessons which will stand anyone in better stead than any degree, are outlawed.

Big win for gun industry in House
Big win for gun industry in House / Bush says he'll sign bill to shield dealers: "The bill, which the House passed 283-144, now goes to President Bush, who has pledged to sign it into law.
'Our laws should punish criminals who use guns to commit crimes, not law-abiding manufacturers of lawful products,' Bush said in a statement after the legislation passed.
Sen. Dianne Feinstein, D-Calif., a staunch supporter of gun control, said the measure would shut the courthouse door to victims.
'I just find it an absolute travesty that these people who are going to be killed (and) maimed by weapons that have been negligently handled (will) have no recourse,' Feinstein said. 'And it's the only industry in America that's this way.'"
This is good. Guns don't kill people, people kill people.
I'm suprised it passed the senate though.
The NRA has done so much more that is useful in this nation then the ACLU, NAALP, and Moveon.org combined.

#10: The 1980s was not a decade of greed but a decade of prosperity - it was the longest period of peacetime growth in American history.
Americans wanting an end to confiscitory taxes under the Carter administration was not greed, but a righting of wrongs. Because of the lower taxes and more friendly buisness enviroment, we had the longest period of growth in american history, argueably stretching even to 1999.

He was voted the Greatest American (although I still think that Winston Churchill should have been it), did the most against Communism of any president (a true cancer upon the world) and had a great sense of humor. #7: Character matters; leadership descends from character.
A leader with character is much more effective then a leader who mearly has a facade of charisma. Washington, Lincoln, Houston, and Reagan all had a huge depth of character, where a leader like Santa Anna or Napoelan were only leading for personal gain.
A person with character will rise above the rest of the group, and often lead them forward, even if it is not in a formal leadership role, it can happen from undernieth.
With character, the leader can survive the difficult time, without it, the facade crumbles.

The Earth's eco-system is not fragile.
The Earth is made up of a bunch of different living organisms bent on survival, as well as a whole lot more micro-things bent on doing exactly what they do, (decomposing stuff) which is to keep conditions safe for the living organisms. They are designed with some "wiggle room" if you will, so that, should the need arise, they can move out of danger, or make things safer again. No amount of pollution or "global warming" *scoffs* will change this.
No new truths on Sunday. We've given you enough. Go reflect on these truths and come back for more Monday.

#3: No nation has ever taxed itself into prosperity.
Pretty obvious, really. With the citizens earnings being confinscated by the government, not much can go back into the economy. One of the downfalls of the Roman Empire was the taxes placed on the outlying regions, which made the tribes a lttle hacked off, having to fund a war on the other side of their world..
Government cannot create prosperity, it allows it by not getting in the way.

Small businesses are becoming more and more common. As these businesses grow, they will eventually become big businesses, possibly rating a highrise office complex, and eventually rising to the level of Corporate Empire. Americans, for the most part, are ambitious hard workers, unlike, say, the oil tycoons in the Middle East who simply sit around, dictate policy and let the money come pouring in from oil wells that they hardly ever visit.
(Oil Tycoon would be a very cool computer game)

#1: There is a distinct singular American culture - rugged individualism and self-reliance - which made America great.
Hey, what other place in the world has come so far, so fast, in such a short time? Nowhere. After less then 200 years, America was, and still is on top of the world. Why? Because Americans are self-reliant and willing to strike out on their own. The Pioneers, the gold miners, the cowboys, and the businessman of today, all wanted to make it on their own, and in doing so, created a better nation for the rest of us.
The culture of "I can do it" is different then any other nation, and we are better because of it.

"[DC] City officials said they expect to file court documents to take over at least some of the 21-acre site in the coming weeks and have $97 million set aside to buy the properties and help landowners relocate.
The city made offers to all 23 landowners on the site last month but received no response from 10.
'We think there are some that we'll have good-faith negotiations with,' said Steve Green, director of development in the office of the Deputy Mayor for Planning and Economic Development. 'There are some we haven't heard from at all.'
Many property owners on the site said the city's offers are inadequate. Others are suing the city on the grounds that it has no right to use eminent domain to acquire land at the site, despite a Supreme Court ruling affirming the right of municipal governments to take private property for the purpose of economic development.
In April, the city notified property owners on the site that they would be required to move out by Dec. 31."
The Kelo v. New London case is going down as the absolute worst Supream Court Descion in history, arguably worse then Roe v. Wade.

"The radical movement, he said, goes beyond 'isolated acts of madness,' animated by a coherent philosophy akin to Soviet Communism and Nazi fascism with the goal to 'establish a radical Islamic empire that spans from Spain to Indonesia.'
'While the killers choose their victims indiscriminately, their attacks serve a clear and focused ideology, a set of beliefs and goals that are evil but not insane,' the president said. The disruption of some plots, he said, means that 'the enemy is wounded but the enemy is still capable of global operations.'
Bush singled out Syria and Iran for condemnation, calling them 'allies of convenience' of Islamic radicals 'with a long history of collaboration with terrorists' and saying they 'deserve no patience from the victims of terror.' He rebuffed calls to withdraw from Iraq, dismissing the 'dangerous illusion' that pulling out would make the United States safer. And he rejected the argument that the Iraq war has only fostered terrorism, a position taken even by some in government."

"Two sources familiar with intelligence information said the West Coast plot targeted the tallest building in Los Angeles, since renamed the US Bank Tower, and involved Malaysian militants and Khalid Sheik Mohammed, the mastermind of the Sept. 11 attacks, who was captured in 2003. Previous reports on Mohammed's interrogations in custody said that before Sept. 11 he mapped out an attack on the tower that was later aborted.
The seven foreign plots said to be disrupted by the United States and its partners included plans to strike London's Heathrow Airport using hijacked planes, to hit ships in the Persian Gulf region and the Straits of Hormuz, to attack Westerners in Karachi, Pakistan, and to set off multi-target explosions in Britain.
The five "casings and infiltrations" in the United States involve better-known cases, such as the capture of Iyman Faris, who was accused of exploring the destruction of the Brooklyn Bridge and ultimately pleaded guilty to providing material support to al Qaeda. Another involved a man sent to scout gas stations in the United States, an apparent reference to Majid Khan, who was reportedly assigned by Mohammed to explore simultaneous bombings of gas stations."

“Two days ago gunmen in police uniforms broke into their houses in a Shiite neighbourhood of Iskandariya,” said police Capt. Adel Kitab said.
Iskandariya is 30 miles south of Baghdad. Dozens of bodies, apparently killed in summary executions in growing tit-for-tat vengeance killings by Shiite and Sunni “death squads” have been reported in recent weeks.
In the capital, Baghdad International Airport – the country’s only reliable and relatively safe link to the outside world – reopened early today after a day’s closure in a payment dispute between the government and a British security company.
London-based Global Strategies Group said it had agreed to return to work after the government promised to pay 50 percent of what the company said it was owed.
Iraq police said two mortar shells were fired into the Green Zone that houses the US Embassy, the Iraqi parliament and government offices. There was no word on casualties or damage.
In the Tal Afar offensive, expected for weeks, coalition forces initially faced several hundred lightly armed insurgents in the largely deserted city, 260 miles north-west of Baghdad and about 60 miles east of the Syrian border.

"To make more fuel available in the wake of Hurricane Katrina, the Bush administration said on Wednesday it will waive certain air pollution regulations for gasoline and diesel in all 50 states.
The temporary easing of regulations will end on September 15, said Stephen Johnson, head of the Environmental Protection Agency.
'This action will result in an immediate increase in fuel supply. These waivers are necessary to ensure that fuel is available throughout the country,' Johnson told reporters."
YaY!! Lets make it permanent!
Wonder how much of an effect this will acctually have, and how much of the recent increase is due to a bunch of folks price gouging.

Wouldn't it be just an administrative detail to located the new power areas, and the number of new schools? Seems like sitting around, waiting for more American deaths so you can rush out and tell the world that the americans are dying, and this raises questions abut the Bush strategy is easier. Instead of being proactive, the want to be reactive and wait for the death reports.
