Politics of Star Wars Strike home

Japan Today - News - Lucas jabs at 'Bush's empire'

Interesting article about the new Star wars movie, Revenge of the Sith, having a lot of correlations with the political climate of today.

As a Star Wars nut, I hate to see this happen, but it does happen in a limited amount. For instance, in Labrynth of Evil (by James Luceno) Palpatine(The chancelor who becomes emperor) sends 200,000 troops to attack a "Triad of Evil". Yoda responds by essentially saying they are remote, insignificant, and don't threaten the republic.

Now that all appears to have a liberal view on US politics, were the bad guys are being warmongers, and the good guys are attempting to bring peace. However, in what I took as a reverse in direction, Palpatine requested that the constitution be changed, to allow him to remain in power. His reasoning for doing so is that the constitution is a "Living docutment".

Seems Lucasfilm/books is trying to take stabs on both sides of the isle.

Yeah, it's hard not to pick up on some of those images. A "Triad of Evil" sounds pretty overt.

I watched Revenge of the Sith last night, and there were some politics, but not deliberate.

Anikin, as he turns to the dark side states: "If you're not with me, you're my enemy". I'll let you draw your own conclusions on this.

When the Chancellor declares himself empereor, Padme states: "so this is how liberty dissapears. To thunderous applause."
Agree with this, I do(yoda has influenced me)
