Bush cutting programs

Yahoo! News - $2.5 Trillion Budget Plan Cuts Many Programs

"President Bush (news - web sites) plans to unveil a $2.5 trillion budget today eliminating dozens of politically sensitive domestic programs"
YAY!!!! Sounds huge, right?

"Overall, discretionary spending other than defense and homeland security would fall by nearly 1 percent"
Good start, lets keep going!

I believe in government programs, but I also believe in discipline. I know the discretionary spending must be cut and I know many great programs will be maligned and cut. I can live with that. I cannot live with the precious military budget and pork-filled homeland security spending not taking more of the pain. I don't think a single dime should be cut from any social program until the White House and Congress take steps to reconfigure government contracting, i.e. the Halliburton gang.
This is a start. Now lets get everyone in the room for the bloodletting and stop letting King George's friends escape with pockets full of cash.

No program whatsoever?
Not the Federal Milk Program, which spends $2.6 million each year buying and stockpiling dried milk, to support dairy farmers, and to keep an emergancy reserve of milk on hand incase of a national emergancy.

Yup. This is a useful program.

You want to pick out specific programs? Sure, there are many that need the axe. We need to set our priorities and walk through the entire budget making cuts and getting down to what we really want government to do. My point is that we don't start cutting social programs making the poorest Americans suffer for the cause until we get everything on the table so we can all share in what needs to be done.
