Republicans: Now 3 out of 4

Well, we lost the house yesterday by a 'Razr ' margin, and unfortunatly, we'll get to listen to Nancy Pelosi round the clock for a few weeks.

Couple of positives:
The house passed the immigration law already
Tax cuts are essentially non-negiotable, courtesy Bush.
The Senate and the president will hold the course on the War on Terror.

Bad:
Dems control the house!!!

Otherwise, conservatives control the West Wing, the Senate, and the courts.

3 out of 4 isn't bad.

What exactly can the Democrats do differently in Iraq?

Hi, Palm boy..

One area of concern I have (oh, I have more..believe me!) is that some of the tax cuts have sunset provisions on them. If the Dems refuse to renew them, it's a de facto tax increase and Bush wouldn't be able to do anything about it.

My comment on the election is this...I think the GOP needs to remember that it's supposed to be a conservative party. Ultimately, God is sovereign and has His purposes for allowing the election to go this way. I have often wondered when judgment would begin in earnest. We might be about to see. Sigh.

Read Deuteronomy 28. How does that look for us? I don’t mean to sound like a give up doom and gloomer, that’s just how it looks to me.

What can the democrats do?

They don't know, although there is a danger that they would cut funding for the war, and we would be forced to withdrawl from Iraq, before the job is finished.
There is also a danger that they would suspend the patriot act, which is a great tool for destroying terrorists.

Sola,
I think you've nailed it. The base if angry at the party for not leading with a conservative agenda, and if the base isn't passionate, then the swing voters will not be convinced.

Oh, Daniel.

We certainally live in a fallen world.

Just in and that is VA's Senate race goes to the Dems so they'll take control of it as well.

@#&* it.

We can kiss improving the judiciary around goodbye.

Well, the '08 elections should be interesting, we'll have another common enemy for the republicans to united against.

I'm not sure if I agree with your score.

The Dems have the House, the Senate and the Supreme Court and Bush isn't exactly a model conservative (perscription drug plan, free trade waffeling, border security etc.)

PB,
Yes, we'll get to see how left wing wacked these so called Dems really are. You're right about the judiciary. I guess we should start sending pens to the White House for vetoeing the bills starting next yr.

Regarding Rabenstrange, good points as the Reps have departed from their traditional fiscal policies. Maybe this is a wake up call for them to go back to their roots. Let's hope and see.

Trial by fire? Wake up the conservatives in the party who have been hiding out.

Raben, my score has changed. It is now 2 out of 4, although the White House is not very conservative, it most definatly is not democrat.

Mercy,
Your right, we'll see the liberals in power now. Maybe the conservative base will wake up again next election.

I don't see how you think the Court is conservative.

Their are four conservatives and 5 liberals.

The court belongs to the Dems.
