Flag burning ammendment

My Way News

I really don't know what to think of this. At first glance it's a great idea, but it is also restricting free speech rights. The constitution and the bill of rights are in place to protect our rights, not restrict them. However, the flag is more the a symbol of our nation, it represents the Military abroad and the Liberty they are fighting for.

This would still have to pass the states, and if it came to party lines then the Red states would clobber the blue states, and the ammendment would pass.

Burning flags isn't exactly the same thing as speaking...

True, but free speech rights also protect the written word, not just spoken. Its a general term refering to the 1st amendment.
