Undeniable Truths in Life: Parts 35-40

Hey,
we've not been around to much lately, and here's makeup on the last 5 days.

#36: Communism Kills.
Joseph Stalin killed more people then Hitler, and the communist nation of china is one of the worst human rights violators in the world. Cuba and North Korea are commies, and both nations have starving citizens in abundance. Iraq, Iran, the Taliban, and Syria either were or still are communist, and are a breeding ground for terrorists.

#37: Freedom is God given.
When man was first created, he was endowed with the freedom of choice. As such, this is a God given right all men posses, no matter where they reside.

#38: Neither the US, nor anyone, imposes freedom on peoples of other nations.
Because freedom is a God given right, we cannot force freedom upon anyone. We can only allow freedom, not enforce it.

#39: To free peoples, peace means the absence of threats and the presence of justice.

And the only way to create an absense of threats is through the aggressive use of force, and a strong miltary as a deterent to further attacks.

#40: The Peace Movement in the US - whether by accident or design - is pro-Communist.
As in the "Anatomy of the Photograph" most peace protests have a decidedly communist slant. If you listened to much of what Cindy Sheehan said, it would have made Joseph Stalin proud.

I agree with all of these except possibly #39.

I can see the importance of having a military deterrent. However, having a powerful military force does inhibit people's freedom in that it increases the power of governments and requires heavy taxes. It seems to be contrary to the principles of the law in the Old Testament which relied on a citizen's militia without any conscription. In Deutoronomy 18, God warns the future kings of Israel that they must not gather to themselves large armies.

I think militias are a much better idea than a powerful state armed force.

I am not in favour of the peace movement or nuclear disarmament.

The US military is a good example. It's a volunteer force, and they are paid for their time. I believe at current time, the US miltary only reicieves 28% of the federal budget. If the government was to cut back the rest of the budget, taxes would be easily manageble.

A militia would not have the depth of strength that a standing army does, and the training would be no where near as good.

True. But I think Militias are God's way of doing things.
