It's been rough for the news papers. Blatently obvious reasons include:
  • Associated Press Wire articles do not equal investigative journalism.
  • Only half the market appreciates left wing news biases
Other Reasons papers will rationalize their failings with:
  • Cost of Paper & Production
  • Loss of Advertisers & Classifieds due to internet
  • People don't want real news!
Also contributory:
  • Bloggers (Thats us!)
  • Proliferation of available news for free

I hate to see newspapers die, but that's the journalist in me coming out. The sad thing is, they've done it to themselves with their bias, and in an increasingly electronic age, they might well be becoming obsolete.

Personally, I prefer books and newsprint to cyberspace.

Joel, I like reading from paper better too. I don't think the printed press will be disappearing, only that it will continue to be marginalized as time wears on.

i think left wing bias has the least to do with it.

they were biased before, and still sold well.

its all about loss of advertising revenues. people are going to the net to advert and buy. all there is to it.
