Ann Coulter firestorm

Story: "A member of the Sept. 11 commission on Friday lashed out at conservative pundit Ann Coulter for a "hate-filled attack" in saying the widows whose husbands died in the World Trade Center used the deaths for their own political gain.

In her latest book, Coulter criticizes the four New Jersey widows who pushed for an independent commission to investigate the Sept. 11, attacks. The women also backed Democrat John Kerry's presidential candidacy in 2004.

"These broads are millionaires, lionized on TV and in articles about them, reveling in their status as celebrities and stalked by grief- arazzis. I've never seen people enjoying their husbands' deaths so much," Coulter wrote."

Ya know, I don't think her remarks are off base at all. Do you realize that each family recieved millions of dollars from the federal government, and countless more from the various charity groups? And ya know how much the family of a soldier gets for dying for you and me? Twelve thousand.

For these widows to go campaign for a canidate in an election, touting there status as 9/11 widows as some great credintials, is using their husbands death for political gain. What gives them the credibility? Are they experts on terrorists? No. Are the people that died in the Oklahoma city bombing experts on domestic terrorists? No. Are the folks who were shoved out of louisiana by Katrina experts on hurricanes? No. So why are the 9/11 widows allowed to campaign for canidates, using there status as having lost a husband for political capital?

Yeah, they should just put up and shut up. After all it's not like the government was unwilling to investigate the 9/11 disaster until the families inquired as to why their loved ones died.Um, wait a minute...

It's not their fault that the government was generous in compensating them. Given that the Bush admistration has used the dead of nine-eleven as a justification for just about anyting they want to do...maybe they didn't pay the 9/11 families enough.

An investigation as to what happened on 9/11 did not take place because they asked. It took place because we as a nation needed to know what went wrong, and how in the heck we were going to fix it.

Bush has used the attack on america as justification for the war on terror, and is dead right to do so. Their deaths stand as a testament to what happens when we let our gaurd down.
That is an entirely different matter then using the heartstring political approach, where because my spouse died, you should do as I dictate, because I'm an expert now.

Hey Robert!

Got back from Colorado last night. I did have a wodfamchocsod at Whit's End like you suggested. Very chocolaty indeed! I also loved the wardrobe in the Chronicles of Narnia room. That was cool.

I did get to meet Jason and we got a wonderful tour at the Air Force Academy. Jason was the first blogger I've ever met, and that was a great highlight for me! :)

Where are you headed after High School?

After I graduate... I'm planning on a long bike trip, but I don't know if that will happen. After that, probably some university via scholorships or ROTC.

I didn't know they had a narnia room there...

these women lost their husbands. they didn't ASK to be put in this situation, they are simply trying to see our gov't do what is right. they have EVERY right to speak out about ANY issues surrounding the 9/11 attacks.

Money? are you kidding?

do you believe these families care about this money - do you not think they would give back every cent they have to have their husbands back?

Have you known no real struggles in your life? becuase you speak as though you hate the world.

No, these women did not ask to have their husbands murduered by terrorists. Nor do they prefer the money.

However, why is there voice given so much more credence then anyone elses? What have they done to deserve an unasailable outlook on forign policy?
