Exciting times at Martin Memorial Medical Center

This is a listing of the effect of illegal immigration on the healthcare services. You don't have to watch the video, but just leave it playing while you go do something else on line.

One Guatemalean has cost almost $250,000, One mexican citizen has cost $1,500,000, and their largest problem is ongoing treatment, such as dialysis.

So if we had free universal health care this problem would be immediately solved...oh wait a minute.

It's crazy. Right now if someone brought me to the emergency room I would want to punch them in the face. People want to argue about whether or not our health care system is good or bad, why not argue about whether or not it is a system? There are no clear rules for how money is used that are consistent. Nice, private hospitals turn patients away that don't have insurance. "Free clinics" use tax money to help those who don't have insurance. In a life an death situation it is not always possible to identify legal citizens. But clearly a patient staying in a hospital for over two years to stay on a dialysis machine is way on the other end of the spectrum.

I guess I don't get it. Maybe I am old fashioned but I won't be kept alive by a machine for any number of years or months or really even weeks.
