Obama's got nothing

AP:"This is not a decision I come to lightly ... and it is one I make with some sadness," Obama said at a news conference after campaign officials released a letter of resignation he sent to the church on Friday.

"I'm not denouncing the church and I'm not interested in people who want me to denounce the church," he said, adding that the new pastor at Trinity and "the church have been suffering from the attention my campaign has focused on them."

The one redeeming quality Obama still commanded, at least in my mind, was his steadfast loyalty in the face of withering political pressure. He stuck to his guns and defended his friends, even if they were radical nuts.
Now? Barak quits and leaves his friends behind, and goes one giant step farther into the political morass of presidential politics he claims to want to change.
What a wiener.

Surely it would have been more politically damaging to have remained in the church?

Though one might have thought he would have done it sooner.

Thanks, Robert.

I will never be able to see Mr. Obama again without the Oscar Meyer song going through my head. Then again, you probably had little choice in thinking of a name for him. Somehow calling him a Jimmy Dean sausage doesn't carry quite the same mystique. :O

I think it is pretty lame too. What is worse is the prospect that he may have more words to eat. Will he give into the pressure to run with Clinton as VP now that she has offered and the initial reaction is that they can't lose together? He has stated that he is not interested in that but party pressure is going to be strong. Clinton brings in votes that Obama alone cannot likely get. It is sad to watch him come apart like this, but when his foundation is a house of cards I guess it is inevitable.

There's an old saying that may be more applicable to today than yesterday: "Politic(ian)s make strange bedfellows"

A different subject, but have any of you heard of ‘Carbon Belch Day’ at all?

Matt, I think the storm of Trinity United had already passed Obama by. But perhaps he thought otherwise.

Joel, Your welcome and he's earned it. No, Jimmy Dean certainaly doesn't work for him.

FAICA, I don't think Hilary joining his campaign would be a sign of weakness or corruption, but it obviously wouldn't be a break from the past.

BCBC, I think that is a timeless phrase in US history.

Daniel, I had heard about it.
