Funny Oil arguement in the house

Funny as in sad. I don't even understand the true tie into gas prices. It's not like the month or even year we started drilling somewhere would net a benefit on gas. It is also an issue of leveraging resources and staying ahead of your own economy. This is much bigger than just the price at the pump. Why would we make a plan that doesn't come into effect until a state of emergency occurs, rather than a proactive strategy for growth and success? I wanted to object while listening but for different reasons. If someone can safely drill for the oil and they see that they can make a profit doing it, than why do we bother restricting it?

What a spectacle. Almost makes me wish Bush would declare martial law.

Just kidding.

Sort of.

It's a political stunt, obviously. And one I appreciated.
