Credit Card Legislation of Doom passes Senate

The Credit Card Responsibility and Disclosure Act (HR 627) was gleefully passed by 90% of the senate last Tuesday. When this bill first cropped up, your faithful blogger decried it here.

90 United States Senators voted to pass this legislation.

Reminds me of a quote from that venerable bastion of intellectual dialogue, Star Wars. "So this is how liberty vanishes. To thunderous applause."

i dumped all credit card 10yrs ago, have never missed them, and am more prosperous as a result.

Yeah...it's only a problem for people who depend on the buying or selling of goods or services for a living [or on donations...church staff look out]. I guess I would also say it's a slight problem for anyone wondering why the government has taken over banking and automobile production. I hope they don't take over toilet paper next, I would hate to have to live with what they would find acceptable.

Here you go, guys, if you want a trip into the world of the surreal. Take a look at the article i've hyperlinked. Who would have ever thought Pravda, of all places, would bemoan the loss of American capitalism and warn Russian tycoons to bail before it's too late.

Technically it's "So this is how liberty dies: with thunderous applause."

Am I the only one who could not take Natalie Portman seriously in ANY of her scenes in Revenge of the Sith?

Gino, it'll affect the entirety of the US economy in a sharply negative way. But personally, it may stay the same for you.

FAICA, it would be like the paper I used to make by hand in 3rd grade. You know, with the chunks of wood still in it.

Sola, your like the 4th person to throw that link my way in the past 2 days. Its a great read.

Knight, thanks for the correction.

As for the toilet paper, it can't be made of wood pulp. That would not be the "green way". They must find a new source so that the hippies do not have to decry the death of another tree to wipe the behinds of a lost nation. Sorry to be so blunt. Gov't is not the answer to any of these problems.
