Undeniable Truths in Life: Parts 41-45

Sorry about the delay, but this last week has been extremely busy with robotics. (Check our site at robotics.sonlightclasses.org or sonlightrobotics.blogspot.com) So, to make up for the missed days, here are the final 4 Undeniable Truths in Life.

#41: The collective knowledge and wisdom of seasoned citizens is the most valuable - yet untapped - resource our young-people have. “Gray Hair is a crown of splendor; it is attained by a righteous life.” – Proverbs 16:31
Wisdom comes with experience, and the older you are, the more experience you gain. Thus, the senior citizens are the largest collective pool of wisdom in the world.
#42: Abortion is wrong.
As is killing, but the killing of an baby, who just entered the world, and is unable to defend himself from even the tiniest creature, is one of the worst atrocities in the world. Since it has become legal in the US, the number of children kills out number the Holocaust many times over.
#43: Evolution cannot explain Creation.
Life does not exist by chance. It is the willful creation of an Almighty God, who created the world perfectly. Chance cannot explain the elements, the formation of the earth, the stars, or the galaxys. It does not explain even the simplest for of life, or how DNA can replicate so perfectly trillions of times a second across the globe.

#44: Abe Lincoln saved this nation. If Lincoln had let the south succeed without contention, then our nation would have no where near the strength it does now. Because of Lincoln, we are still a United States.

#45: The US will again go to war.
The War on Terror will continue, and plenty of other threats will arise. Because ours is a world governed by the aggressive use of force, war will always be a part of the current earth, and as the worlds superpower, the US will be either a target or have to come to the aid of another nation.

The End of the series is now here, after 2 months of posting. I will post the permalinks for them all soon. I hope you have enjoyed the series!

*edit* Argg... My first time to use Blogger for Word. I guess it doesn't load the pictures for the post.... */edit*

Interesting thoughts.

I am not sure about Abraham Lincoln. I am British, but I have a little sympathy for the Confederates. Is not the people's right to self-determination important. Did not the southern states voluntarily enter the Union? Did they not have the right to leave? My American history is not great, so forgive me if I am overlooking anything.

I really do admire the United States, a lot more than my own country.

Lol.. I live and was born in Texas, and have been a southren rebel the entrie time. However, in hindsight, if the union had fractured once, what was to keep it from fracturing into another 20 some city states, or fueding warlord domains? The union could only remain strong if they could not succed. In addition, Lincoln also emacipated the worst humanity problem in the US, that of slavery.

And another thing that is often over looked is the south firing first, so they essentally declared war on the north.

Maybe the fracturing of the union would have inspired the fracturing of other great powers in the world. The history of the twentieth century might have been very different.

But I guess it was not in God's plans.

I do not think that Abe Lincoln "saved this nation" as you claim. God might have used him to draw this country together, but the after effects of some of his beliefs did little good for our country. For instance, states had less rights and more rights were given to the Federal gov.

The Federal Government would have had absolutly no power, and the states would have ceased to exist, if the south had successfully ceded. If one state could withdrawl with out repercusions and intervention of the federal government, then the entire union would have fractured into a bunch of little nations, much like the French and the British predicted from the very beginning.

Would that have been such a bad thing?

I realise that the USA would not have been a superpower, but would it have been a less godly place? Is freedom not more important than military strength? Are you not in danger of trusting in chariots and princes?

God Bless

Yes, it would indeed have been a bad thing.
If the US was not a military power, what effect would it have had on the world? The largest free nation in the world would cease to exist. And what comes with freedom? A yearning for Christ, which was why the US was, and still is the most Christian Nation on earth. Now, if we had fractured at the seams, how would that have affected the world?

WWI: Who would have came in and alieveiated the tired and worn down British and French troops? While the forces of good may have won, the toll on humanity would have been even worse then it was. With a fractured nation, the US would have had no where near the military strength that it did. Even if one of the small nations of america went in early, the over all effect would have been much, much smaller then in the real course of history.

WWII: The Nazi's ran over france, and had England in a corner, and was successfully carrying on a war with the russian juggernaught. Italy was runnng through Africa with reckless abandon, and Japan was having a jolly good time creaming the pacific rim. If america had been a group of weak nations at odds with each other, would they have been drawn into the war? And even if they had, how much effect would they have had? Would 4 or 5 small nations bind together to fight a 2 front war? Would any of them have developed an Atomic bomb before the Nazis, or would we have had the strength to drive into berlin in time? Without a United America, the world would have been a much, much worse place.
The Nazi's would have been the worlds Superpower, and the Japaneese Empire would have controled the entire Pacific Rim.

With a Nazi superpower, a Japaniese Empire that required absolute obedience to the emperor, and a Fascist Italian dynasty set up, how much Christianity would have survied? With out the freedom of America and Britan, the world would have fallen into another dark age, with the State controlled government controling the vast majority of the world.

-"Is freedom not more important than military strength?"-
You cannot have freedom on this earth without having the strength to defend it. Because freedom generates productivity and wealth, it is a ripe target unless defended.

Your approach assumes that the state is theologically justified in waging wars in other countries. I would question whether this is Biblically correct. There is a danger in the state usurping its bounds and intruding on God's sovereign right to govern the nations.

In terms of self-defense, if the Union had fractured, the various groups of states might have clubbed together for their defense in the event of attack.

I think your logic is at fault in assuming that WW1 would have taken place in the event of a Confederate victory. Maybe it would. Harry Turtledove (one of my favorite authors) seems to think so. On the other hand, maye the fracturing of the Union would have encouraged the break-up of the European powers, just as the your War of Independance inspired the revolutions of Europe. If the European Great Powers had broken up, then WW1 could not ahve happended.

Alright... Where to begin.

Those who do nothing to stop evil are essentially party to the actions, it is called tacit conciet. When Stephen was stoned to death, Paul stood by and held the stoner's coats, essentially acting as a party to the killing. By not interviening as atrocities are being commited, the US would have been an accomplise to genocide. In addition, it was the Jews that were the main target of the persecution, and I seem to recal that he who defends Isreal will be blessed, or something to that effect.

-"maybe the fracturing of the Union would have encouraged the break-up of the European powers, just as the your War of Independance inspired the revolutions of Europe."-

That approach as many faults. When the colonies separated from England, it was a wake up call for freedom, heard around the world. No nation existed with real freedom, and no nation has afterwards either. The "powers of europe" were not allied because of the US, and weather the us had fractured or not would have made no difference in Europen politics leading up to WWI, because the US did not take a role in any political or strategic manuever leading up to the war.

The Breakup of the Union would not have created a breakup, because more freedom's were not being created, rather a more restrictive government (In some forms anyways) was separating.
