According to one Oklahoma source who knows the former page very well, Edmund, a conservative Republican, goaded an unwitting Foley to type embarrassing comments that were then shared with a small group of young Hill politicos. The prank went awry when the saved IM sessions got into the hands of political operatives favorable to Democrats. The primary source, an ally of Edmund, adamantly proclaims that the former page is not a homosexual. The prank scenario was confirmed by a second associate of Edmund. Both are fearful that their political careers will be affected if they are publicly brought into the investigation. The prank scenario only applies to the Edmund IM sessions and does not necessarily apply to any other exchanges between the former congressman and others. Foley is a pedophile. The Republican members of Congress covered this up. And you totally ignore the news story on your blog here for the past few days until you can finally find ONE article to somehow undercut the truth of what has been occurring.

A pedophile is a mentally deranged person who is sexually attracted to young children.
Foley is a Gay man who tried to solicit sex from a minor, or apparently did. Wheather he did or not is besides the question, I don't think he should be serving in public office. However, that is no excuse for false news stories.
Pedophila is an excuse that is often used by the news media and Catholic Church to hide the effects of having Gay men around teenage boys. If it can be sidelined as a mental disorder, then there is nothing we can do to stop it. However, if it is shown to just be the Gay men, we could stop it.
So in the interest of saving face, the gay community, and consequently the news media, refer to this as pedophila.

it is absolutely laughable that anyone can defend anything that has occurred by either Foley, or Reynolds, or Shimkus, or Boehner, or Alexander or Hastert. Or their staffs. All of these mean - who happen to be REpublicans - did NOTHING to prevent Foley from interacting, engaging and communicating with young boys.
This case is not about being gay -- it is about the willingess to cover this up and hide th knowledge that a man was preying on young boys.

Palm boy - what exactly is it that you do with your life? are you in high school? college? do you have a job? you appear to be extremely sheltered. My guess is you are a spoiled child who is homeschooled and who has rarely spent anytime outside of his christian community.

Let be clear on this, so that even you can understand this.
1. If Foley was soliciting Sex from minor, it is wrong. He deserves to be punished, just like everyone else would.
2. The house leadership was, and is not responsible for the actions of those benieth them. Foleys actions were Foleys own, not those around him. If Hastart had been actively involed in finding pages for Foley for the sexual reason, then he would also deserve to be punished. But knowing about an email 3 years ago, where he was asking questions of a page, and then reprimanding Foley, seems like Hastart is not complicit in this issue.
3. If Foley is innocent, then this is a one of the dirtiest election plays in the history of the United States.
Foley is NOT innocent. NO ONE has suggested that. so wake up.
Hastert, Reynolds, Shimkus and Alexander and now Kolbe ALL KNEW OR WERE PUT ON NOTICE AND DID NOTHING!!!!! While a Congressman was flirting with and hitting on 16 year old boys. HOW can you possible defend Hasterts' actions? HOW?!? Seriously, are you that partisan that you accept the cover-up of this just to protect a political party?
