More Americans watch 'American Idol' than State of the Union address

'AMERICAN IDOL' TOPS NETWORK COVERAGE FOR STATE OF UNION
.....
The U.S broadcast TV audience would rather watch freaks sing out of tune than President Bush and Democrats wax politics, overnight ratings show.

One hour of IDOL on one network pulled a higher ratings average than 2 hours of STATE OF THE UNION -- on three networks, combined."

Doesn't the fact that more people watched 'American Idol' than the 'State of the Union' reflect the real state of the union?
Truly pathetic....

To be expected.
I didn't watch the speech, I watched Mythbuster's on discovery. Now I feel like I left out though, so I probably won't do it again.

New thought:

The Neilson ratings didn't factor Fox News, CNN, or MSNBC. So maybe more people watched then expected.
