YEEEEEAAAAHHH!!! Dean is back

Story: "Coulter, who was addressing the Conservative Political Action Conference in Washington, D.C., said:

"I was going to have a few comments on the other Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards, but it turns out you have to go into rehab if you use the word "faggot," so I — so kind of an impasse, can't really talk about Edwards."

Members of the audience seemed startled, then many clapped, and she proceeded to open the floor to questions, reported EditorandPublisher.com

After her comments, Dean issued a press release expressing his outrage. Dean called Coulter’s remarks "hate-filled and bigoted."

“While Democrats and Republicans may disagree on the issues, we should all be able to agree that this kind of vile rhetoric is out of bounds. The American people want a serious, thoughtful debate of the issues,” the press release read
."
If you choose to watch it, click here.

Huh... Well, if that is hateful, then what the heck is this?
""The Catholic church is not about to let something like compassion for girls get in the way of using the state as an instrument to force women to bear more tithing Catholics.""
...
""What don't you lousy motherf——ers understand about keeping your noses out of our britches, our beds and our families?""
(for more of these comments, that I have elected not to post due to their vile nature, visit here.)

Those are comments made by Edward's campaign staff, hateful, wrong, and liberal. And yet, Mr. Dean is woefully absent in decrying this as 'hate speech'. Rather, he had no comment on this issue.
Yet another notch on Dean, but I think we already knew he was a hypocrite, and a far left liberal.

We haven't been hearing much from Howard Dean have we. Either that or I just sub-consciously have ignored any news items I've seen regarding him. It's nice to hear from him every now and then and be reminded how liberals tend to choose lunatics in leadership positions. It just reinforces my basic rule of voting---never place a vote for anyone with Dem after their name.

I think a lot of this has to do with the fact that homosexuals are now the new "poster children" of the left. We have come to a pretty pass in our society when a perverted, aberrant BEHAVIOR is now considered in the same class as a racial minority. Maybe rapists soon will be able to file class action suits against the justice system because we're denying them their right to self expression. (snort)

While I think most of us chuckle at Ann Coulter's wit, it's good to note that the liberal media (not to mention the left) take full advantage of an opportunity to obscure the real ARGUMENT about ideas, which gets forgotten in all of the hue and cry over the controversial comment. Probably unwise in a political season, given the current climate. We can tell the truth about issues without being needlessly inflammatory.

i was gonna screed on this... its sitting in several broken paragraph outlines as a draft.

lets put this into context:
i like ann's work, own several books, and she is the blond i'd most like to ;)
but, this remark was out of line, even for her. she pushes the edges, but always within a context of some argumentative point. this time, she even broke THAT limit.

ann is a writer and speaker. she may prefer the GOP, but is not on any GOP payroll. she is not an operative. she doesnt work as a republican, but as an independent contractor. she has no hand in policy decisions, and is not a any position to write, or vote, on legislation

i dont see any calls for democrats to apologize for the hitler remarks coming out of the hollywood left, or MTV, or maureen dowd.

the DNC, on the other hand, has close financial ties to moveon, who has called bush a nazi, killer, nigger-hater etc... and the DNC once posted a cartoon on their website showing bush killing old people.
dean himself has called bush a liar, criminal, drug addict, moron etc...

wait, its gets better...
the liberal idealogy sees nothing wrong with gayness, gay people, and the gay lifestyle.

the basic mantra: GAY is GOOD.

and dean is upset because ann implied somebody is gay? he should be thanking her for recognizing edwards as another in a long line of wonderful people who are democrats. if he really believes the mantra, then no insult is present, and no apology required.

THIS is the true hypocrasy, the intellectual hypocrasy, and far more damaging, in the long term, to the health of our public discourse and future as a nation.

I would agree that Ann Coulter isn't always the best person at putting forth a good, serious argument from the conservative side. She often resorts to insults, jokes, crudity, and sometimes over-repetition of some idea of the liberal left.

Still, sometimes we need bluntness and frankness like that in the argument, and she does a good job at that. Call the democrats' bluff. Call them liars (only when they are, of course).

The whole hypocrisy thing is starting to wear on me, though, both its existence and its use in arguments. For example, it could go like this:

Coulter says: Edwards is a faggot.

Dean says: Coulter is bad.

Republicans say: You're being hypocritical.

Dems say: Look at this--you're being hypocritical too.

Republicans say: Pointing at our problems doesn't make what you did okay.

Dems say: Why don't you deal with your own problems?

Republicans say: Quit trying to change the subject.

And the argument obnoxiously goes on...

Issues, people. Issues.

David, I'm glad we haven't heard much from him. And I'm sure his party is as well. :D

Sola, that would indeed be a frightening future.
Coulter was inflamitory, and thats always unwise.

Gino, I agree.

KA, I believe it is nessesary to understand the other side in this ideological war. As you know, I usually do issues, but sometimes it is appropriate to show the hipocrisy of our oppoentents.

I wasn't criticizing you, Palm Boy, for posting about it. I'm just saying that--say, if you watch Fox News' Hannity & Colmes regularly--that example debate I showed starts to get redundant, boring, and annoying.

I think pointing out hypocrisy is good. But, it shouldn't be done--by Democrats or Republicans--as a "Red Herring," so to speak.

This should be Republicans' points in this specific case:

1.) Coulter was unwise in what she said.

2.) It's not as big of a deal as Democrats are trying to make it.

3.) What Edwards did (a. hiring Christian-haters ; b. keeping them after being called out ; then c. getting rid of them, but I don't recall him apologizing) was MUCH worse, and Democrats should recognize that openly. Then they can criticize Coulter.

4.) It was a joke. Perhaps not a good one, but not as bad or botched as Kerry's infamous joke about Iraq.

5.) It was crude and insulting, but not as crude and insulting as aiding and abetting the enemy, calling Bush a liar, evil, stupid, etc., etc., without sufficient reason.

This may be the points Republicans are making. I haven't been following this issue too closely.

Anyways...to sum it up, Republicans should say, "Coulter shouldn't have said that, but we're not going to let her be a Democratic money-raiser by her comments, because..." and then go into all the things Democrats have done.

KA, I think I agree with you. And thankfully, that is what appears to be happening now.
